I was compelled to leave a review of Veganyumm from the perspective of an actual customer, having been a patron during its earlier incarnation as Cinnayumm and now, as a full-fledged bakery. Ive sampled the cookies, tarts, cupcakes and cakes at Veganyumm several times over the past year and have found their products to be satisfying on the whole. The mylkshakes, red velvet latte and turmeric latte were also delicious. The $20 box deal offers a great sample of goods. All in all, I have found Veganyumm to have a variety of offerings and cannot fault the taste of any of their goods, which are indistinguishable from the typical animal product-laden counterparts. In my opinion, Veganyumm could be improved with respect to consistency - relating to the cosmetic appearance of the goods, portion size and perhaps front-of house tidiness - although perhaps this is part of the evolution of a small business. Nonetheless, as someone with high standards for hygiene , I have been comfortable enough to regularly return. With respect to service, I have always received prompt, polite and professional service from the owner of Veganyumm. I cannot say that I have witnessed the same attention to detail and quality of service from every single other staff member, some of whom I recognise as being the authors of the seven previous negative reviews written within the past week. For the good of the public, perhaps those "reviewers" should channel their allegations (should they be genuine) to more appropriate avenues rather than indulging in personal attacks. TL;DR: As a customer, I highly rate Veganyumm and urge any potential customer to judge the bakery for themselves and to support small, local businesses.
Purchased some gluten free cupcakes from here for our wedding for our gluten free and vegan guests - two of our guests were celiac and spent half the night severely vomiting and were almost sent to hospital - they have both been celiac for 20+ years and are very aware of the effects of gluten and assured me it was from the cupcakes. I called Veganyumm the following day to ask them what happened and received the worst customer service I have EVER experienced. I was told it was my fault and that they dont have to warn that their gluten free cupcakes MAY CONTAIN GLUTEN. They refused to apologise or give a refund. I persisted and finally spoke to the manager (or owner?) of the store who also refused to apologise and EVENTUALLY offered a refund to be direct debited to me. 1.5 weeks later and I am yet to receive the promised refund. I will never deal with this company again and urge others to stay away - I am disgusted by the way I was spoken to by their staff and the absolute refusal to accept any blame. I would give 0 stars if I could.
Didnt start off well with this shop. First - false advertising! Chalkboard sign at the front of shop says choc brownies $5. I paid $6.50 for a bland square of brown cake supposedly brownie. I asked why it wasnt $5 as advertised and told by the shop assistant the sign was for yesterday. I said they need to either bring sign in or wipe it clean. It was still there when we left an hour later. Second - shop assistant acted like we were putting her to a lot of trouble when deciding what we wanted. She had no customer service at all. Third - Charlies fruit shop owns these shops. Just because they are vegan doesnt mean they are organic but you pay organic prices. Very disappointed.
Ive been a customer of this place since it opened and after a few outright disgusting treats purchased, I felt it was time to write a review. I personally feel the place gets over hyped because its vegan. Yes I am a vegan and Im not immune to food establishments being glorified because they happen to be among the few here in Brisbane that cater to us vegans (and also not to forget those who suffer from food allergies/intolerances) But I have to speak up when I know something is amiss. Like when my favourite item (which is the cream cheese cinnyumm) is stale and they ask if I want it zapped in the microwave to obviously soften it
This is the ultimate vegan dessert bakery! They have the most delicious brownies made gluten-free and you can get $20 value boxes with a little taste of everything. I am very impressed with the service as they know everything thats in their products and they make the most delightful hot drinks and shakes all animal free. And their Snickers tart holy wow! And the peanuts butter chocolate biscuits, Nom, Nom, Nom! I also purchased a brownie birthday cake from there and it was the most delicious cake Ive tasted for a long long time. I recommend this place to everyone, not just vegans :-) Did I say Nom, Nom, Nom yet? :-)
I used to love visiting VeganYumm and ordering their treats. My partner and I would visit all the time, and it was the go-to place to meet a few friends of mine. The pricing is quite expensive but I enjoyed supporting small business. Unfortunately, last week on Facebook I was informed of how this bakery treat their staff, the fact that they use non-vegan ingredients in their treats and the lack of hygiene (incl. cockroaches in the store room). It was extremely disappointing to find out the reality of this bakery and I will not be returning.
Ordered a cake from here last October and it turned out lovely! Decided to get a cake done for a 21st birthday party, which I had pre ordered 6 weeks in advance. The car ride home the top half of the cake slid off and we fixed it as much as possible before the party. It kept sliding off all day and eventually broke in half. We couldnt even slice it without it breaking and crumbling everywhere. It still tasted amazing but was a serious let down. I hope this never happens again as Ive recommended a lot of people here before this incident.
Food started well when you guys first opened but I feel the quality has declined lately. Being a regular Ive found that increasingly the one-off bad experiences have become the norm such as stale cake or cupcakes and bad service. Never a greeting just: "what can I get you" as soon I walk in the door, without having even looked at the cabinet. Maybe try "hi, how are you going" first? Really want to support a local vegan business but Ive been disappointed too often now.
The worst place I have ever been to. The Indian lady was rude and didnt serve me just sat there on her phone, it was busy, she completely ignored me, she then told a staff member eating their lunch to go and serve, she maintained texting away on her phone. After I spent $30 bucks on a couple Of items and a Shake, I took a sip and it was My milkshake was hot. The brownie was good though I will never be back. 0/0
Amazing waffles, cakes and other yumminess. The coffee is OK (but Charlies, next door, is better). Its worth being aware that the Cinnayumms, which are amazing, are baked fresh daily - so dont show up at 8am expecting to get one, they wont be ready yet. Also, the music is a little loud inside, but there are seats outside if you want a chat in peace and quiet.
This place rules! Another genius creation from the folks from Charlies. The selection of baked goods is brilliant, and their cakes are the best. My wife and I had our wedding cake made here, and it was a hit with all of our guests, none of whom were vegan either! Check it out absolutely, its a must.
