Natalie Noelle Soriano - Torres
The place was very well-presented and having missed yum cha, the family (2 adults and 2 children) decided to try it out. We ordered from their yum cha menu as they did not serve the dishes from the usual trolleys most Chinese restos that offer such. We were seated immediately (place was about a third full) and orders taken within 10 minutes. Things went downhill from there. Had to ask twice for some water which took almost 5 minutes to be given. Our table didnt have any napkins (others had cloth ones) and I had to ask for some and were given paper serviettes (4 sheets to be exact which isnt enough when dining with children). The first two dishes arrived a good 30 minutes after. The fried rice (which should be renamed fried peas with rice) and salt and pepper tofu were not exceptional. We asked for some soy sauce and vinegar to dip our food into and it took two reminders for them to bring us some. The servings were quite small for the price. Our steamed dumplings came out 10 minutes after the first two by which time we decided to cancel the rest of our order and leave. The staff were courteous though but dining here hungry might not be the best move unless willing to wait at least half an hour for what should be a quick lunch.
Best quality dim sim in Canberra. 6 to 7 dollars for quality dim sim like this is absolutely worth it. We had only three dishes, custard bun, mushroom chicken, veggetable and rice noodle roll. - Custard bun you can actually smell the dough and the fillings got the sensational taste of egg yolk. - Mushroom chicken, i didnt have much because my partner like it so much that he finished all before I touch it. This dish portion is quite small though. - Vegetable and rice noodle roll, vegetable is really nice and in season, cooked to perfection; rice noodle roll, not the best one I have had but definitely best in Canberra. Portion is small, however, going to other yum cha places in Dickson paying about the same price for bigger portion but crap? How would you choose? I took one star off because server was not very attentive, didnt offer any tea or water.
There we were on Wednesday night, not wanting to cook. We had in mind that we wanted a deep fried whole fish with sweet and sour sauce. Stumbled upon Tang dynasty on Giles street. On reading the menu, they didnt have what we wanted, but we went in and asked if it was possible to make it for us. The waiter came back very quickly and said it was possible; however he suggested us to try Dry Fried whole Fish in chef special chilli Sauce. We sat down and ordered drinks and combination fried rice, which arrived quickly. It was fluffy and light and not oily. The Dry Fried whole Fish in chef special chilli Sauce was mind blowing delicious. And we walked out very full; we could hardly walk back to the car. We rate Big Thumb a 5 our of 5. We just loved it.
Went in at noon on a Saturday and it was pretty quiet so we got a seat and put our orders in quickly. It looks and tastes like the food is prepared when you order it and it was pretty quick. Wait staff were helpful and friendly. - Food definitely taste fresher then average (prawn dumplings, BBQ buns, bean curd rolls) - Dishes available were not as extensive as other places but could be due to them making stuff onsite - $1 or $2 per dish more expensive then other places but you can taste why - Nice location, great decor and nice staff
This restaurant is a hidden gem in our area. I never thought that they serve such delicious foods to their customers. In other words, the menu is fantastic and the rates are also affordable compared to other Chinese restaurants. I would suggest anybody visit this restaurant at least for once because you will surely get amazed after having their dishes that they serve to their customers.
At first, I had doubts about the dishes of this restaurant so I was actually against choosing this venue for my birthday treat. However, I was surprised by the mouthwatering dishes of this restaurant and it was not only me but my friends also loved the food and atmosphere of this place. In all excellent foods and a great atmosphere where you will love to come again and again!!
If I have had I denied my friend’s treat at this restaurant then it would have been a great mistake. What I want to say is that if you like Chinese food then tang Dynasty is the right place for you. Man!! They are just amazing and I would love to visit this place with my fiancée again because she is also a food lover and I am sure that she will like this place.

Please be informed that as we arrived here with great pride and anticipation, BUT, ITS CLOSED without any reason....does this reflects the Chinese pride? I would advice anyone considering to come Hërë, drop your thought....not worth to consider. May well be closed already..after obtaining their PR-ship...who knows...
Fantastic restaurant right on the foreshore! Great Chinese dishes fresh ingredients and service that takes it to the next level ! We had the banquet for four and every dish was delicious and delicately balanced leaving us satisfied and keen to come back again! Would definitely recommend- best Chinese in Canberra
Located in the surrounds of the Kingston Foreshore, is a seemingly out of place Chinese Restaurant. They serve a daily yum Cha, with individual plates set around $6-7. The portions are small & the food needs to lift in standard in order to compete with the other businesses nearby. Decor was nice, service ok.
This is by far the best restaurant I have come across in the entire Canberra. They serve the most amazing Yumcha ever, and are an ideal place for even the children to enjoy a sumptuous meal. We always enjoy ourselves here. Highly recommended!
This restaurant is certainly the best place to spend some quality time with you family and loved ones. The ambience is awesome, the customer service is amazing and the food is absolutely exotic. I would certainly recommend them to all.
I went to this restaurant with my family get together. We were a group of 14 people. And I must say that it is extremely spacious and accommodating. The staff was also awesome with its courteous services. Definitely recommended to all.
I have never tasted such mouth watering Yumcha menu ever in my life. I really love this restaurant for its wide variety of Yumcha cuisines and keep coming back here with all my friends. Strongly recommended to everyone around!
Able to fit a large group for a birthday party at short notice, and the staff offered their function special - a free magic demonstration with card tricks which was amazing!
Had a fabulous Yum Cha for Sunday lunch. Great food and great entertainment at our table....still cant figure any of those tricks! Take your primary aged kids too.
Beautiful settings and friendly staff. Food is good although not outstanding and it is value for money. Plus, we had authentic Sichuan food there
The Engrish on the menu is delightfully woeful, but the dinner was really yummy and the service quirky and attentive. The duck was awesome.
Lucy is an excellent server and offered great customer service. Our second time dining here. The food is incredible. We will be back.
Beautiful food and great service, the best yum cha Ive had in Canberra. Also the magic tricks are excellent! Good place worth going!
