Sorry guys, not very good. We eat a lot of Japanese food and this was one of our worst experiences - venue is nice but nothing we had to eat was at a standard that we are used to even from a cheap and cheerful japanese kitchen. Edamame was ok but missed that salty edge and seemed to be out of a freezer bag, Agadashi Tofu was rubbery and the dashi was some weird concoction of seaweed. Sashimi was fresh but cut into such small pieces and so badly arranged it was way too little for the price and the Ebi Tempura tasted like defrosted frozen prawns in a batter from the local fish and chip shop. 1 star for atmosphere and 1 for trying - please do better!
Since there are few good Japanese restaurants, Iori is easily the best. Service is great and the food generally fulfilling. Reviewers here seemed to have missed two important things: The dinner menu is much more expensive than the lunch menu. And the consistency of the popular menu, Wagyu beef, can vary from salty to heavenly. Overall, though, definitely worth a visit.
Great food. Great ambiance. And great service too. I would recommend the "A.T.M" from the set menu or you could try any other set menu as they are all pretty good. Although it might be priced higher, this is easily one of the best Japanese restaurant in Canberra. Do consider making a reservation if it is the weekends though (limited number of tables).
An excellent meal, with tasty authentic dishes and attentive service. We were having a birthday party and our hosts made sure the birthday guest was spoilt. The staff went beyond what I expected to make sure we had an enjoyable night. While on the more expensive side, I rate the food and experience as worth it.
My husband took me for lunch on my birthday. We are really love this place food are amazing and price is reasonable also service was great. We are highly recommend this place to everyone and we will definitely coming back here where we get a chance to visit Canberra again. Thank you Iori you made my day
The most authentic Japanese food in Canberra I have been to Iori several times and never came away feeling unsatisfied. The staff are always great and very helpful The food is delicious, well cooked and perfectly presented. Definitely worth it!
The banquet was tasty and is reasonably priced. Lovely waiting staff as well. My only feedback is that the courses came out is a little too rapid succession and a bit more attention could have been paid to whether we wanted any more drinks.
Great Japanese food. Definitely more expensive than most places but worthwhile. Come here a few times and they are very consistent. Service is decent, extensive alcohol list, great menu suitable for anyone. Will be back soon
Pretty good, but not amazing. The Wagyu beef is very good, and the sashimi is decent. Prices are not too bad for a place in the city, but given the décor and ambience, they seem a fraction high.
Highly recommended... really disappointed, below average service, average meal size, above average prices all in all I wont be going back again.
Excellent service! However the quality of food is not steady. Sometimes it is delicious but sometimes it is too salty.
Recently had a sushi bento for lunch. Very tasty. Good pricing. Must learn to not serve the lovely Japanese tea so hot!
One of my favorite restaurants in Canberra. Martin Bohun also known as "Canberra Uni" (Sea Urchin of Canberra)
Authentic Japanese food. The wagyu beef is awesome and the green tea oce cream is super nice. Great service too!
The bento box dinner with sashimi was superb. Very authentic and the sashimi was very fresh and silky smooth.
Easily among the tastiest Japanese cuisine in Canberra. Good portion sizes, and fantastic bang for your buck!
Great service and fantastic food. Good atmosphere and quiet enough for chats with colleagues or partner.
Nice Japanese food and lovely waitress :) They even teach you how to use chopsticks on the menu.
Very authentic. Most if not all the staff are Japanese. The food was great, and came quickly.
Awessome decoration. Terrible prices (but very traditional, so it worth the price)
Tasty fast food. The only problem is the long waiting time during the lunch hour.
Quality of food is fluctuated. Cannot expect steady food. But the service is ok.
Most legit Japanese style restaurant in Canberra, find meal deals on their fb
Fresh sashimi and authentic Japanese cuisine with very reasonable price!
Hoe Bing Lo
A classy japanese establishment that will keep you coming back for more.
excellent Japanese cuisine, authentic and good service, but its pricey
What a nice little surprise. Best Japanese food in Canberra so far.
Very authentic and awesome food. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Because of the good quality of sushi, it is very expensive.
Wow, seriously you can better sushi at Woolies Supermarket.
Great Japanese restraint. Feels like I was back in Japan :)
Iori has a really great atmosphere and the food is great
Authentic food, good service, but price is expensive
Fit us in with no reservation. Great food and service!
Tasty, well presented, quick, friendly, a bit pricey
Simply the best and most-authentic Japanese in town.
The food is great but the atmosphere is even better
Waited 2 hrs for food that never arrived. Rubbish.
Authentic, great food and atmosphere!
Great decor, tofu done umpteen ways.
Bento boxes for lunch are amazing
