Frugii is my single favourite ice-cream place in Australia. I cannot get enough of it and think I have visited close on ten times, and I live in Sydney! I have some Canberra friends and if I am in the capital for a night or more we usually have dinner nearby, a lot of the time at Grease Monkey, and then head to Frugii for dessert. Seasons have never mattered and on one of these visits I really need to take a bunch more photos - these guys and gals deserve a blog review. There is one flavour I was obsessed with but as the flavours change all the time I only had it on two visits. It was either a lemon myrtle or lemon verbena. I paired it with a scoop of rosemary ice-cream (yes its a thing) and it was like mums roast chicken minus the chicken and really cold haha. I loved it. I regularly drive to ACT on work emergency short notice and Frugii, along with my Canberra friends, are a true highlight.
Visiting Canberra for the Easter weekend, we found ourselves craving for good ice cream; the day being sunny it was perfect for it. So we ended up by Frugii and found their ice creams really delicious! We had dark chocolate, espresso, vanilla bean and hot cross buns! We cannot put 5 stars though, because who wants to pay 10$ for 3 scoops, really?! Ice creams are so expensive there, that is really a pity! Apart from that, the available flavors that day were rather classic but good.

Best icecreamery in civic and possibly Canberra. Rather than have a million flavours and all of them be average, Frugii focuses on getting a few flavours perfect. They rotate their flavours too, although some are always on offer (dark chocolate and salted caramel as far as I can tell). Some of my favourites have been lavender, rosewater, thyme and truffle. Its a tad pricey, but definitely worth it. Couldnt comment on their milkshakes or other desserts.
Amazing desserts and one of the best chai lattes Ive ever had. This is a recent addition to Canberra, opened in January and managed to have a stellar launch. Still going strong and the owners are absolutely lovely, the man who creates and makes all the desserts is super knowledgable and you get a real sense of his passion wen you speak to him. Highly recommend both the product and customer engaged.
Its time for dessert! The classy parlour opens till 11pm! Where can you find an ice cream place like that? Apart from the flavours offered on the menu, a new ice cream flavor is introduced everyday. Recommendations: have a variety of sundaes and thick shakes available to go and youll be flooded with customers! Having banana splits and peach melbas are not a bad idea too.
Arguably the best sorbet Ive ever had and Ive tried quite a few, their ingredients taste fresh and natural (not artificial or anything). They also change their menu up on most days which definitely keeps things interesting. Friendly service and fairly average pricing. Mild complaint would simply be how small the place is, and it can be busy (small price to pay).
The Durian parfait enrobed in lychee jelly popsicle is the most heavenly dessert I have ever had in my life...(would definitely be my "last supper" dessert pick!) the other desserts are also of an extremely high quality. Best dessert place I hv come across in Oz & all my explorations across the world to date. A visit to Canberra MUST include a stop at Frugii.
They have a great range of flavours with rotating sorbet options, they offer gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian options at this point with some vegan desserts. I love this place and rarely walk past without stopping in for a treat. Everything is made from scratch. The staff are amazing
There are always new and exciting flavours to try at Frugii! The bacon they had recently sold out really quickly. Jump on their Facebook to keep up with current flavours. No artificial flavours are used and a lot of it is infusion based. Great place with a great vibe!
Frugii has amazingly good ice cream, and they change theyre offerings quite often, so its always nice to go back if you havent been in a while. Go for the gelato itself, as the icy poles and iced desserts are terrible value for money in comparison.
I tried the dark chocolate Ice cream it wasnt that sweet it taste like actual dark chocolate. Service was friendly they let you try as much samples as you want. The only thing is that place is really small not recommended for big groups.
Wife loves it and whenever were around this is the place she has to visit. So we have dinner somewhere, the dessert here... The staff is always friendly. I cant say much more as Im not a dessert person, but the coffee is good! :)
The quality of the gelato was inconsistent but I like the fact that they are always open for suggestions on new flavors of the gelato and its the only few places in Canberra that open until late night. (Closes at 11pm)
Excellent little place. One of the best Espressos Ive ever had and that includes many which Ive had over in Italy. Highly recommended place if you are walking around Braddon and are after something sweet.
Great little dessert place. All handmade desserts with amazingly intense flavours. Lovely staff and wonderful service. Cant say enough good things, will definitely be returning with friends in tow.
It is inside an arcade which can make it make it hard to find from the street. There is a wilson parking nearby. Not much seating but some is directly outside the store ( not good in winter )
Interesting flavours, though I dislike that they are on rotation, and I wont always like something when I visit. Moderately expensive for what you get, though it is quite popular.
All my friends in Canberra kept recommending this place. Its got really interesting icecream and sorbet flavours, as well as a wide range of desserts. Worth a try!
its great if youre looking for top notch ice cream but the name is a little misleading. My friends and I were looking for a general dessert place, not ice cream.
Favorite place in CBR!!!! Love the white peach flavor and the ice stick. So many flavor in the ice cream and icing dessert. And also I met a lovely SHIBA!!!!!!!
Artisanal ice creams with a superb selection of unique flavour profiles. A trendy dessert laboratory in the heart of hip Braddon.
Beautiful space, greatly curated selection, nice staff, great price, but mostly just, wow, really, really good. V good ice cream✌
Stunning ice creams and gelato, with flavours that taste like the real thing and not a chemical reproduction. So good!
Great in house ice cream with a rotating menu of flavours. Trial scoops help you decide. Great coffee available too!
Classic Australian ice cream. If you are Australian, youll very likely love it. If you are Italian, non entrare.
Yummy gelato. I had a dark chocolate affogato. Go there before everyone in Canberra finds it. Oops. Too late.
Best icecream Ive ever had! The bitter orange was delicious, but theyre constantly changing up the flavours.
Delicious items on the menu and quick to serve with a smile even with a line. Happy to come back here.
The only place Ive encountered musk-stick ice-cream... something youll either love or hate. Very cool!
Very personal, delicious choices, its pricey but worth it, fits in well the way braddon is going.
Beautiful ice creams and sorbets, plus gorgeous desert creations, right in the heart of canberra
