Went to the southern cross club for some casual drinks and pokies. We were up to our second drink and attempted to have a friendly chat to some patrons next to us which ended up in them claiming my friend sexually assaulted them by "grabbing their boobs" to security. Upon this allegation we were quickly escorted to the front desk to discuss this situation with the security officers which we were happy to do. However we persisted that security and management reviewed security footage to prove their was no wrong doing on our behalf yet they neglected to look any further into the situation. As this is unfortunately how the situation unfolded we continued on to ring the police. The police arrived and the police were even more disappointing as they showed zero interest in doing their job and claimed we have no rights what so ever at patrons and can get kicked out of a club with no relevant reason at all. We persisted that they reviewed the video footage but again the showed zero interest in solving the case and just wanted to return to their warm office as fast as they could. This is extremely disappointing in the southern cross club and I will not be returning and passing this information onto family and friends . I can understand the uneducated security guards following orders from a manager with no idea from right and wrong buy for the Woden Police station not to investigate an incident of patron being kicked out of a club for allegedly sexually assaulting some woman is absolutely appalling and disgraceful for what the community depends and expects of the Australian Police Force.
We were looking for a 100-150 person venue for our community function as part of The Australian Automatic Earth Tour 2013. We have booked CSCC for what it seemed a very competitive price. However, one week before the event we were notified that CSCC events have to be catered as per CSCC policy at minimum $10 per person. On top of that we could not bring our own AV, CSCC polices do not allow that - instead we were told that we have to rent AV equipment though a CSCC contracted company for a ridiculous $500. For the same AV equipment I have never paid more then $160. We were not notified of the conditions or policy applicable to our event, and the documents we signed did not contain any notion of mandatory catering or AV restrictions. We decided to cancel the event and move it to a later date, far away from CSCC, nevertheless CSCC refused to refund our deposit. ... I have organized over 20 events nationally counting as many as 600 people and booked many more. CSCC has so far the worst value-for-money & policy conditions I have ever seen or heard of!!! CSCC does everything they can to trap you in the corner, mislead and misinterpret emails. CSCC is not a business, they are thieves and pirates.
We booked for a table of ten for Christmas lunch held in the Corinna Ballroom at $115 per head. To say we were extremely disappointed would have been an understatement. There were two young men maintaining the bar so we had to queue for a glass of Coke for almost ten minutes. The meat was overcooked and dissolved in your mouth and the prawns were tasteless. We were put in the back corner with absolutely no atmosphere (not even a Christmas carol to be heard!) For the previous four years we had our Christmas lunch at Rydges Barton. Rydges Christmas lunch is extraordinary and the service is spectacular. Whoever organises the Christmas dinner for the your club should take a leaf out of Rydges Christmas catering. Overall, we were all very disappointed with the Christmas lunch you provided. I will NEVER book here again. I will also advise everybody to not book at the Southern Cross Club for Christmas in the future. We were really looking forward to our lunch only to go home quite let down to say the least! If you are going to charge $115 per head, please tidy your act! So very disappointed!
I ate at with a friend at the Golden Grill, Woden at lunch time on Monday 8th September 2014. The clientele was elderly, no people of working age were present. It was not nearly as busy as it once was. The reason became clear - the food is now mostly "industrial" i.e made elsewhere. My "crumbed snapper fillets" were factory made, thin, tasteless and overcooked for good measure. The spring rolls were flavourless and bought in but did come with sweet chilli sauce. The provision of condiments in pen containers presents some health concerns regarding contamination. It is evident that the Club has pursued cost cutting in order to provide cheap meals but the result is food that no-one would enjoy. Gone are the days of fresh fish that was prepared and cooked in house, it seems. Not recommended. Perhaps the steaks would be the better choice.
We visit the club once a week and have done so for years now. The food at the Tuggeranong venue has declined in quality for some time now and the costs increased. The food now is very small in portion size and lacks any variety from week to week. Cost for a steak is in excess of $25.00 which given the size of the meal is way too high. Vegetables are always without flavor and limited to only a few types. All in all time to get rid of the current contractors and bring in someone interested in serving quality meals at reasonable prices. It is after all a club not a hospital.
Very dissapointed. three of us went for lunch on the Monday public holiday. As none of us were members we were advised that ALL three of us would have to join at a cost of $10 each, a total of $30 just so we could go in and have some lunch. I would have been happy to cover one membership to sign us all in, however the charming receptionist advised that was not possible. so we went to the Hellenic club down the road, paid $2 each for temporary membership adn had the BEST lunch at the trattoria! excellent service and great food. I highly reccomend the Hellenic Club!
2012 1st Big Mistake. We went to the SCC Woden for New Years Eve celebration function and by god it was awful. $95 for a 3 course meal and "entertainment". Look the food was adequate, it was basically dressed up club food but its what we expected. The entertainment, 2 guys and a girls with microphones singing to music. It was like being at a karaoke bar except that the one bad singer gets to sing all the songs. Get a cover band or something. The room was so hot everyone was dripping in sweat after a dance. No way to bring in the New Year.
Great family club, great food when not under pressure. Unfortunately my daughters meal was extremely oily, which we put down to mass production as it was a very busy night at the club. This did not change our opinion on the club because the floor manager could not of been more helpful or kind, offering us free drinks, different food or a choice of a free dessert. Overall great service, 8/10!
There needs to be more policing of the parking area. Arrogant non disabled persons parking their cars in a disabled spot should be made to remove their car and banned from the club. Parents should be made to supervise their children in the dining area. Staff are delivering hot food and drinks which could be dangerous with children running about.
Two stars for the performers only, none for the venue. Attended a concert (Bananarama and Wang Chung). Had a great time with lots of singing along and dancing, but the room (the ballroom?) was so hot and stuffy as to be really uncomfortable. Air Conditioning is a real thing SCC Woden, how about you get some?!
