Amazing! As others have said, it is loud and you do wait a while (definitely reccomend making a booking and arriving 5mins before the booking) The food is amazing! We had Bbq Pork Buns, Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Honey Chicken and Peking Duck Pancakes. I 100% reccomend all of them. The Duck Pancakes were the best I have ever had! You make them yourself at the table so you can choose how much sauce goes in etc. All food arrives very very quickly and extremely hot! I would definitely recommend it for anyone interested in this type of cuisine!
Rang up to make booking for 6pm and was told that I would have to be done by 7pm. With the time it takes to order and receive food as well as having 4 kids this was going to be unreasonable and we found it quite rude to set a count down clock on Your valued customers looking for an enjoyable evening out. Needless to say we decided to go to Chinese kitchen dumpling house in Woden who were more then accomodating even though we had no booking and they were busy. 1 star for service at CBD dumpling house
Move Over Happy Chef or any Dixson St Chinese in Sydney. The food here is terrific. Was in Hong Hong last week & the food @ Dumpling House was much better. Best Laksa ever. Incredible depth of flavour. Who cares if they ask you to finish by a certain time or you have to wait. Go to Bangkok if you want to talk about waiting in lines and rude service. Keep up the good work. My friends & I will spread the word about your restaurant.
This is probably one of the better (and more authentic) Chinese food in Canberra with quite a large variety of dishes to choose from. Although there is room for improvement for their service (probably due to the large number of patrons), I think the overall experience for a casual meal here is good. As for the pricing, it is reasonable and similar to the restaurants located nearby.
2.5 stars for food and service; the extra half star for location and decorations. Shanghai xiao long bao was okay; Pan fried dumplings were really not good, not authentic, almost like deep fried. Service was okay although definitely not personal. Great location and neat interior decoration.
Poor service. Rude staff. Music was blasting so loud from speakers, It fell like a night club. When asked to turn music down a notch, we where told No and if not happy to go somewhere else. Well I will not be returning.
Bad service. I simply asked them not to put shallot in the fried rice and he said yes. But when the food was served shallot is everywhere. And the waiter asked me to pick out by myself. Average taste as well.
Made a reservation, got here on time, knew what I wanted and ordered it. Pretty efficient service and good dumplings. Do yourself a favour and make a booking to avoid disappointment. This place gets busy
Wait time was a little long but worth it, we had a booking and still had a 20 minute wait but once we were seated food was hot fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend if you like dumplings
Better than the Dickson location, more well-lit and although still as cramped, the 2-seater tables on the window side are nice. Food is served quickly, but you are also expected to eat quickly.
The waitstaff were very rude . Walking away before we finish talking and banging dishes and bottle of water on the table . Definitely would not want to go there with such people serving !!
Really busy all the time but still fast service. Gotta make sure you go the chinesse brocoli and demmmmmmmmmm bbq chicken pork bunz... Like dam i want em now just thinking about them.
Decor is lovely. Customer service is bad. Portions are far too small for the price and the fact that they are a dumpling place. $30 minimum for EFTPOS! Are you kidding me??
Awful service and very rude waiters, they expect us to finish our food in 1 hour but it takes them at least 30 minutes to get our food out; never coming back again
An average Chinese restaurant. Not for those who after authentic and typical Chinese food. My comparison is based on restaurants like Din Tai Fung or Tim Ho Wan.
"Dumpling house" is a bit of a misnomer, this place does way more than dumplings. In general the food is OK for a reasonable price. Usually pretty bustling.
Inside the beef, fried rice, dumplings are all done very authentic, it is strongly recommended
Not as great as it could be...service was just ok...pan fried dumplings was average... dumplings in the dumpling soup was nicer... fried rice was average
Ah yes, the holy chinese grail of the city centre. Always busy, amazed at the speed of their service. Consistent high quality. Cant wait to go back
Very nice dumplings, pork buns and the garlic chicken is beautiful! Love the lychee punch too! Food is reasonably priced, service was good too.
Foods are just typical not authentic Chinese cuisine, worsen by the unfriendly and inattentive waiters. Customer service experience = sucks.
Seated straight away and ordered within 10 minutes. Meal arrived very quickly and was hot and tasty. Overall a very pleasant experience.
The dumplings are fantastic. Be aware if you get anything other than dumplings the portion sizes are larger than you would expect.
Seems to be a long wait but we had a booking. When we ordered food was on the table in 5 minutes. Great quality and superb taste
The food was fantastic and great value !! The only downside was the music was a bit loud but I would defiantly come again
Wow! Such a reasonable price and super yummy. The place is very busy though so gets quite loud. Byo with no corkage fees
Best dumplings in Canberra. Love the separation of prawn from chicken and the many varieties and options available.
One of the staff was very rude and was not accepting his mistake on taking a wrong order and blamed it on us.
Amazing dumplings, good service and decent price. I highly recommend the Shanghai Pork Dumplings.
The food here are typical Chinese food，for those who interested Chinese food should visit it.
Absolutely packed when I went in on a Saturday night, quick service and nom nom dumplings.
Excellent food at a reasonable price. We really enjoyed our meal. Will be back again.
Great food reasonable price. Must try mixed platter of dumplings and lamb shank tank
Get in early. The dumplings were delicious and the sweet and sour pork was tasty.
Best dumpling house in town, attestetd by my chinese friends. Food is delicious.
service could be better, very noisy in the evenings.no discount for take away
Excellent food.and staff and great ambience and next door to paid parking.
Generally Good food. Great Dumplings. Well priced and quietly positioned.
The food is delicious and quick to the table. Great value as well.
quick service, yummy dumplings and plenty of room. Clean and Tidy
Excellent food and service, great for a nice dining experience.
Good dumplings, service is also quick and reasonably priced.
Waited for an hour not to get a table, not worth the wait.
Had better, but may be this is the standard in Canberra
Authentic Chinese food. Very crowded but delicious
Surprisingly good food especially for the price.
They have the best sweet and sour dumpling soup.
Good food, quick service and good for the price
The dumplings here were really nice and tasty.
