“Avoid this place – a complete joke” After eating at Briscola on a semi-regular basis for some time, I took my family there for my sister’s birthday. I am incredibly disappointed, and frankly, humiliated that I had made the recommendation to eat here. When I made the booking for eleven people, I was told that it was not possible to order al a carte, that our only option was to choose a banquet. I chose the option advertised as an assortment of pizzas and pastas. I didn’t understand this at the time to mean that we would not have the opportunity to select the pizzas and pasta that we wanted to eat. Instead, we were served whatever the kitchen had slapped together. This “banquet” option was $35 per person - a total of $385 - for four small mediocre pizzas, two bowls of pasta, and one green salad between eleven people. The one piece of pizza I ate was average. The vegetarian pasta was overcooked penne in viscous green slop. When we made mention that the food was completely inadequate for the price, the owner spent about twenty minutes arguing that he wouldn’t discount the price because charging these prices “funds his lifestyle” – as he expressed it. Surely, if one’s lifestyle were funded by hospitality, they would make it their business to ensure repeat customers have a good experience.
I had dinner with my partner at Briscola and it was fantastic. The food was authentic home style Italian and the service was impeccable. The owner is also a really down to earth guy and very hospitable, coming over to us several times during the night to ensure that everything was going well and to just have a chat in general. My night at Briscola was faultless and i will defiantly go back there again!
Great Italian restaurant in Canberra! I had the banana king prawns as a starter which were 5 stars and followed by a pizza which I would rate with 3 stars. Friendly service, nice location, great wine! Will come back. Wanted to give 4 stars but waited 35 minutes for my Affogato dessert after they have forgotten it 3 times
We were served half-cooked pasta (Penne Alibrandi) with hardly any sauce to go with it after a long wait and the pizza was not worth the price at all...I found Crust pizzas way better for that price when it comes to the taste and the toppings....Arancini saved our evening. Definitely not worth the price.
Pizza was authentic and seasoned perfectly, the pasta (egg pappardelle) was al dente and the ragyu was amazing. I highly recommend having the tiramisu for dessert with an espresso. The only critique i have is that when sharing food with partner ask for the pizza to come out first.
Random choice resulted in one of the best lunches ever! Daughter suggested Italian for lunch and picked this from the name only. Exceptional service, food, drinks range and fantastic friendly staff. Awesome!!!
Good, solid NY-style sandwiches...but at a price. Reasonable Black Mountain coffee. Busy but efficient at weekday lunch. Outside area a bit noisy
Love the Lunchtime Calzone. Good gear. Tip: call and make an order. Good food comes with time. Only 20min though in a busy lunch period.
Good food great service try the prawns or the pizza ir pasta all was awsome best puzza in longtime
Waited for a while to get served. Others were offered table water but not us. Left before ordering.
It was great, The pizza was homemade, Pasta was delicious, And the desert was great
Ordered a takeaway pizza and was missing the most expensive topping (pancetta)....
Good if you order the large pizza. Bad if you order the small. Vast difference.
Great simple FLAVORS
Nice warm place with good pizza and service. Good choice of other dishes.
The best pizza restaurant in Canberra!
