Cocktail wasnt as good as what the hype made it out to be. Portion was decent, entrees and share plates were better than the mains. Staff were not very attentive and I had to get up and go to the bar for service even though the waitress had seated us and didnt seem to be doing anything other than busy work. She then forgot my drinks order and I had to go up and order from someone else. Perhaps if I wasnt expecting more I would have rated it higher. Worth going to tick the box, maybe I just didnt have good timing?
All of the food incredible! Much of these evening was friendly and easy and the staff helped everyone have a great night, which was a challenge, as we were a group of 10 with a range of dietary needs. We all had the set Feed Me! menu for $49 and were all very satisfied with the overall meal. Our only small concern was there were some delays with drinks too get to the table. Apart from that, it was a great night and would definitely recommend for others. Well definitely be back!
Absolutely fantastic, weve (my girlfriend and myself) have had Vince as a server and lola had delivered every dish so far, I can not fault the service. Vince has been more than fantastic as a server(there was a problem with drinks across the table and it was covered professionaly) and lola has offered every dish with a smile. Please do yourself a favor and stop here for dinner or lunch. Very accommodating staff and fantastic atmosphere. CAN NOT RATE THIS MORE HIGHLY 10/5
Sensational Dropped in in a Saturday night - no chance of a table for 30 mins - took our number and called us at a nearby bar Got a table for two on the window - where we were able to talk and people watch Offered two dishes - yum Cha style - no on the menu - and everything else off the menu Staff were attentive and had time to chat - and offers suggestions You cannot go past the kingfish and Barra wings - what a delight Overall 9 outa 10
One of the best eatery and bars you will find in Canberra. First timers should pick the "Just Feed Me" option to get a broad tasting of the finest food AKIBA bring to the table. Add some fun to your evening by finding a spot at the bar and marvel as the bartenders put on a show while creating a cocktail personalised to your tastes. One of the finer selections of Shōchū and Saki this side of Japan.
I really love the food here, and think the online booking system is excellent. The cocktails are awesome and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Only downside for me is how loud the music is pumped up, especially outside - I had to ask for it to be turned down so I could actually talk to my friend who sitting right beside me. But otherwise love Akiba and looking forward to the next visit.
The food was good, but the sevice was appalling. It was early in the evening, and the same waitress spilled food on us after constantly reaching across us, forgot our drinks and walked away in the middle of us trying to pay leaving us to wander around looking for someone else to help us. For the price you pay, you would certainly expect better service. Probably wouldnt go there again.
Akiba is just plain amazing. The food is out of this world.. the best way to enjoy it is to order a few share plates and crack in together. Great atmosphere as well. Brilliant modern Japanese cuisine (influenced by Korean and other South East Asian flavours). Highly recommend trying the pork belly buns and the T-bone (with plenty of the incredible Korean gochugaru sauce & butter).
A wonderful restaurant - my favourite funky fine dining in Canberra. Terrific spectrum of asian flavours with lots of vegetarian options. I recommend the eggplant (to die for), potatoes (surprisingly), kimchi pancakes, paw paw salad. Friends reported that the meat dishes were also delicious. Fast and conscientious service, good wine list, clever use of space, affordable. I love it.
Food was divine, particularly the fried rice, the eggplant, the tofu cheesecake, and the fried chicken. One dish was left off our order somehow, and it took a very long time and several tries to get it added and brought out, but the servers were so helpful and apologetic. Plus they ended up offering us that and one other dish free because of the delay.
I love this place and have eaten here many times. Great atmosphere and food. Works well for groups or a couple. For group bookings you have to do the set menu (which is delicious) but they will modify it without fuss for dietary requirements. Would recommend booking if you want to guarantee a table, its busy everyday of the week.
I was looking forward to Akiba, well i was sorely disappointed. Food was average to say the least, it was pointless making a reservation a week in advance since the staff lost the booking. Food was ok but simply not worth the money. Dont go here unless you enjoy average food and have a surplus of cash you need to waste.
Asian tapas in the heart of Canberra. Food comes out pretty quickly. Andy who serve us was excellent and funny. Most of the food were average. The papaya salad was not nice at all, bitter and not that refreshing. They hv indoor and outdoor seating in which both are quite warm. Food - 6 Service - 9 Vibe - 6 Price - $$$
Vibrant atmosphere and delicious food, the staff were friendly and experienced. There was a difference in wait times which left two members of our group waiting an extra 10 minutes to eat, but this was understandable given our large party, and it being a busy Friday night. Overall great experience, highly recommend.
Has to be the busiest restaurant in Canberra. Food was really delicious, and fair priced. We opted for the feed me 8 plate option. Great way to taste a variety of dishes. The food is more fusion with influence of Japanese. Lots of chilli in most dishes. The pork bao buns are next level! Will come back!
Excellent food and excellent, friendly service. Incredibly accommodating when we asked for a couple of changes to dishes for kids. All the food we had was super tasty and it was the dining highlight of our trip to Canberra. Wheelchair friendly out the front, not sure about inside though.
Had dinner at AKIBA last night and it was Awesome! We sat at the bar, ordered, ate, drank and talked to the bartenders. They were really good at mixing drinks and we had a bunch of amazing cocktails. If you go there dont be afraid to sit in front of the bar. Awesome view, food and drinks.
Make a reservation! We didnt think wed need to on a Monday and were put it out on the window overlooking the grimey alley (right below the corner speaker). Not perfect but ok. Food was good. Service good, if not a bit contrived. Interesting menu. Food was nice without being fantastic.
Food is ok. The flavours were pretty overwhelming (very salty) and lacked the subtlety of Japanese food. The Japanese mushroom dish we ordered was almost completely button mushrooms. The staff and atmosphere were great. Overall, a three star experience. Though we wouldnt hurry back.
Would give 6 stars if possible. Food is amazing--have thoroughly enjoyed every single dish Ive been served here. Waiting staff is incredibly attentive, very helpful, joyful and enthusiastic about the menu, and have always treated me so well. Will absolutely return many times over.
